If you are going to apply for credit cards, you may think that you don’t need a rewards card. This can be especially true if you’re applying for your first card or are just trying to build your credit. But if you’re going to use this credit card at all, you need to apply for low interest rate credit cards with rewards. Here’s why:
The first thing to look for in a rewards credit card are the fees. The best rewards credit cards out there charge no annual fees, so you could be getting rewards for free. If you’re going to apply for a credit card anyway, why not apply for a credit card that is going to give you free rewards?
You’re Using The Credit Card Anyway
Second, you’re going to be using the credit card, so why not let it work for you? How do you think the richest people in the world got that way? They made their money work for them. This is the same principle of using a rewards credit card. You’re going to use the credit card instead of cash, so why not let the credit card work hard for you?
You’re Spending the Money Anyway
And finally, you’re going to be spending the money anyway, so why not get a little bonus for doing so! If you were going to fill up your gas tank or buy groceries, why not use the credit card that gives you 2% cash back and save a little money. It just makes sense to use a rewards credit card for items you were already going to buy.
What doesn’t make sense is spending just to spend, and only to get the rewards. If you don’t need something, don’t buy it just because you want to get rewards. I had a friend spend $1000 on something silly just to get enough points to redeem them for another silly widget – that makes no sense at all!
