How to Use Custom Domain Name on your .blogspot Blogs
Changing your .blogspot URL to a custom domain involves two major steps: a) setting up the new domain with your registrar and b) setting up the new domain in your Blogger dashboard. If you’ve purchased a new domain from GoDaddy, here’s the easiest way to configure it:
A. GoDaddy Account Setup
1. Login to GoDaddy account to manage your domain.
2. Click the dropdown arrow beside “My Account” and select “My Products”.
3. Under “My Products” in the left menu, click “Domains/Domain Manager”.
4. Click the Domain Name you would like to setup. It will display the Domain Details along with other options or menu.
5. Click “Nameservers” and then click “Set Nameservers”.
6. Choose “I want to PARK my domains”. Click “OK”.
7. Click “Forward” menu and then click “Forward Domain”. Enter the URL of your blog with the www. (Example: www.healthvial.com)
8. Go to DNS Manager and click the “Launch” link.
9. Under CNAME (Alias), check www and click the ‘Edit’ icon. Change “@” to ghs.google.com. Leave other settings as is. Click “Save Zone File” at thet top then click “OK” to confirm the changes. Wait for few minutes for the changes to take effect.
B. Blogger/ .blogspot Custom Domain Setup
1. Login to your blogger account. On your dashboard, click SETTINGS on the blog you would like to modify then go to the PUBLISHING TAB. Click on “Custom Domain”.

2. Click “Switch to Advance Settings:

Glad to know it helps.
I’ve been searching for a good step guide to use a custom domain on Blogger for quite some time. I will give your steps a go.
I usually mask the domain to the blog. However, I would rather create value in the domain name. Blogger does index articles quickly.
Thanks for the guide. Blogger’s instructions are confusing. Will old blogspot articles redirect visitors to the new custom domain? Thanks again!
Yes! Your .blogspot address will redirect your readers to your new domain.
Thank you!
Would you recommend forward with masking or regular forwarding? With masking, you can choose up to 500 characters of keywords.
Your steps worked well. The custom domain works great with regular forwarding. In the past, I made the mistake to miss the parking step.
When I write future articles on the custom domain, will the articles get indexed for the custom article?
Using a custom domain can build value into the domain name.
Are you good with 301 redirects when migrating content from one website to another? Domains moved from WhyPark to blogger feature broken links due to different coding sequence in the tail.
There is a 301 redirect that can be done to redirect the visitors to the new article location. I don’t understand where to place the code. Thanks for your help!
Hi! Great technical stuff.
Actually, I’m just sticking to regular forwarding and everything within this post.
No more, no less and I haven’t encountered any issue in terms of redirects and indexing.
