Google Friend Connect: Quality Content Gets More Followers
I was doing my usual Adgitize rounds (ads-clicking and forum-posting simultaneously) when I stumbled upon Search Engine Optimization discussion started by Ken Brown.
What is one piece of advice you would give about SEO to a noobie blogger? What is it that you think makes the difference between a successful SEO program and a no program.
I’m not an SEO expert but just like most of you, I believe that CONTENT is the KEY. When I started blogging way back college days, I write as if my blog is my diary. I share my opinions, my feelings, my daily experiences and the like. Then I graduated and got over myself. I mean, not everyone is interested to know my whereabouts. Most people are not into personal stuff. Plus, I wanted to have extra earnings. Right then and there, a great transformation of my blog happened. It’s personal mixed with personal finance management stuff. I begin sharing my online endeavors – how I earn online to be exact. I publish articles that will help my readers. I got more followers without begging them or asking them to do so. As of now, the blog I am talking about is a PR4 and it appears on the first page of Google search in some keywords. You see, there are no complex tricks here. It’s just the good content that is driving more traffic.
Moving forward, here’s how you can install Google Friend Connect widget:
1. Sign in or create an account with Google Friend Connect.

You can ADD a site or Add Members Gadget to existing site.
2. By default, Blogger/Blogspot blogs are listed under your account. To add WordPress blogs or other ones in a different platform, just click “Add new site”.

Fill up the required fields.
3. Click the “Continue” button to complete the setup. Click “Add the members gadget” to proceed. This button is also accessible in the Google Friend Connect overview upon selecting a website. (Refer to Step #1 image)

You can now establish a good connection!
4. Customize your Google Friend Connect widget. You can specify the gadget size and its color to make it suitable for your site.

Blend it with the theme of your blog!
5. Click “Generate code” to get the HTML code.

HTML coding made easy!
6. Copy and paste that code on your blog. (For WP Dashboard: Appearance>Widgets)

Add the code as Text/HTML widget on your blog.
Now you can see who’s following your blog! Keep those loyal readers by publishing quality content! Unique visitors can help you make more money online, too!

Hmmm… kapag nag-join ka ba via Google Friend Connect sa isang blog, mapapadalhan ka ba ng updates everytime may bagong post dun? I have been a member of Google Friend Connect to many blogs and websites pero not once do I receive any feedback or info about their latest updates or posts.
NV,
Haven’t received anything din. You can just see it on your Blogger Dashboard for Blogger blogs, including the thumbnails of blogs you’re following. Scroll it down til you see “Reading List”.
Here are all the updates from any blogs you follow and sites you’ve joined using Google FriendConnect.
I read your About section and how sad is that you lost your 8-year old blog. Dang, what happened?
And by the way, just a thought on your blog, why don’t you put up a chatbox so that your linkers can communicate with you easily? =)
Hi Avatarlady,
Thanks for that. I’ll surely put a chatbox here. But because I have so many blogs, all of my email accounts have been registered already.
I have to sign up first.
As for my blog which has been deleted, I’m so happy to let you know that Blogger restored it.
I just added you too on my blog. Cheers.
